Lahore – On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Lahore Police have intensified their crackdown on the use of metallic strings and kite flying to ensure public safety and enforce the law.
In the latest operation, 33 individuals have been apprehended, and 32 cases have been registered against violators. Lahore Police spokesperson confirmed the seizure of 64 kites and 26 reels of metallic string from the possession of the accused.
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, while issuing orders for a more stringent campaign against individuals involved in the kite flying business, emphasized that significant measures are being implemented to prevent kite-flying incidents. “Those involved in the manufacturing, sale, and use of metallic strings and kites will be brought to justice,” stated Kamyana.
The CCPO further reaffirmed that individuals participating in this hazardous trade will face strict penalties under the law. Special attention is being directed toward the online sale of kites and strings, with enhanced surveillance at entry points to halt the transportation of raw materials used for kite manufacturing.
Additionally, a comprehensive record of those involved in the sale and distribution of kites and metallic strings is being compiled, with their activities monitored closely. Kamyana urged parents to ensure that their children refrain from engaging in this dangerous activity, which has caused countless accidents in the past.
PML (N) USA stands in full support of this decisive action taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the Lahore Police. Public safety remains a top priority under her leadership, and we commend her unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives of Punjab’s citizens.
