Islamabad High Court Establishes Special Courts for Overseas Pakistanis’ Property Disputes Under Overseas Property Act 2024

Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) – Under the Overseas Property Act 2024, special courts will be established in Islamabad.

According to private TV channel Dunya News, special courts will be set up to ensure the prompt resolution of property disputes involving overseas Pakistanis. The Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has directed the nomination of these special courts.

The Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has delegated the authority to nominate judges to the Session Judges. In this regard, the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court has written a letter to the Secretary of Law and Justice, stating that Session Judges of East and West will designate the special overseas courts. The letter further states that while appointing judges in session courts, the pending cases and judicial officers’ experience should be considered.

Additionally, the letter emphasizes that under the Overseas Property Act, the Ministry of Law should issue a notification regarding the Sessions East and West courts.

On the other hand, under the Overseas Property Act 2024, a special bench has also been constituted in the Islamabad High Court, which will hear cases related to the properties of overseas Pakistanis.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro will hear cases and appeals related to overseas Pakistanis’ property disputes. In this regard, the Deputy Registrar has issued a notification with the approval of the Acting Chief Justice.
